European {Honeymoon-Inspired} Travel Journal: Loire Valley, France, p.1

Entry No. 7: Loire Valley, France, p.1

Continuing with CB's European Honeymoon-Inspired Travel Journal series, I'm excited to share with you {in several parts!} the incredible 9-day road trip I enjoyed in May with S, a lovely French friend of mine. I loved meandering through the French countryside dotted with charmingly sleepy villages, having fun spotting the occasional pheasant or lamb on the edge of the little towns. Our first day out, we visited Fontainebleau, a small and sweet city with a beautiful château {and gorgeous public gardens, too!} where Napoleon often resided ...

In fact, it was on the horseshoe-style staircase pictured above that Napoleon gave his farewell speech right before he was exiled to Elba Island. I took several photos inside the château but very few came out due to the low lighting and my poor little overwhelmed point-and-shoot camera.

However, I did take one poor image that I simply must share ... how adorable are these slippers? They were for the royal children. :o)

We also visited the teensy-tiny town of Mennetou-Sur-Cher ... it was incredibly quiet and we enjoyed walking around, snapping shot after shot of the gorgeous stonework, the weathered shutters and the incredible ivy that seemed to grow just about anywhere and everywhere ...

Lots more castles and lovely towns coming up ... plus a peek at Versailles and the Paris Flea Market and a few fun things {and eats!} in the City of Light. Stay tuned!

If you have any tips, insights, suggestions or comments, I'd love to hear them! Hope you enjoyed the second installment of the European {Honeymoon-Inspired} Travel Journal! Happy Honeymooning!
