Magnolia Market Recap

Last week I had the chance to go back to Magnolia Market at the Silos. While in town for my sister in law's Baylor graduation, my business partner for The Bloom Workshop, Ashley, and I had a meeting with the Magnolia team to talk about a potential partnership with the brand in the future. I can't wait to be able to say more soon! For now, all I can say is you might want to sign up for our Texas workshop in October :)

Here's a few pictures from our day with my fam at the market.

Ashley and I got a private tour of the Magnolia offices and rooftop. It was SO fun and windy ;)

This was a little corner of the office upstairs. I love that Joanna puts their team mantras all around. This one, Do Good Work That Matters, was one of the favorites.

My husband caught this one while he was down in line for the bakery.

All the food trucks were so fun-- I love the Common Grounds truck for coffee and tea.

The flowers were everywhere and all were amazing! Not surprising, since Joanna makes magic happen in everything she touches.

We finally got to try a cupcake-- last year when we were here the bakery wasn't quite finished yet and so we were really excited to try a treat. The line might look intimidating, but it wasn't too bad at all. I think we waited for 10-15 minutes max. And WELL worth that time. I got the classic black cake with white frosting and it was DIVINE. Probably the best cupcake I've ever had.

The inside of the bakery was so cute, just as you'd expect!

The patina on the silos was so beautiful, so we snapped a quick photo in front of it.

This is a sneak peek of the garden center at the market. I'll share more from that area next week!

I'm so glad my husband got to come along with us this time + we had so much fun that day with my parents. Such sweet memories!

If you've made it down here, then bless you. That was a long recap! Have you been to Magnolia?! Tell me about it in the comments!

Fixer Upper Home Tour + Get the Look

As you know, I'm in Texas this week and tomorrow I'm heading to the Silos for the second time to shop Magnolia Market. I'm really here for my sister in law's graduation from college, but this is a HUGE bonus ;) Last time I was in town (a year ago), the bakery wasn't quite finished, so this go around, I will be trying something from their bakery! Since I'm going to be at Magnolia this week, I thought I'd share a home tour from the season 4 finale of fixer upper and show you how to get the look below.

I love how inviting this front porch is! There is just something about a porch that makes people want to stay a while. The darker shutters paired with the white house is the perfect contrast, and those pretty shrubs make for a fresh front yard.

Inside I immediately see iconic Fixer Upper style: exposed, dark wood beams + shiplap. Both of these elements help visually extend the height of the ceiling and draw the eye up. The other thing that helps make the ceilings look taller are the tall kitchen cabinets. If you ever have the option of going tall or all the way to the ceiling (especially in a home with shorter ceilings), go for it! It'll instantly add height.

The living room has lots of metal / iron touches which ties in with the black sofa.

I love this sideboard piece!

The porch is one of my favorite spaces. Look at that ceiling texture!

I think the theme of this house is ceiling texture ;) Love how they put a barn wood texture on the ceiling in the bedroom, too. Again, lots of black accents to tie in throughout the house.

The master bath is really beautiful with this epic storage.

In love with this clawfoot tub!

I could live in this little girl room. That bed frame is just TOO cute!

And this room?! Ah! Completely charming.

How do you like this Fixer Upper home tour? Was it a favorite? I think it has a little too much black for my personal taste, but I can still admire it as being a really lovely home! Jojo can do no wrong. Maybe I'll run into her at Magnolia tomorrow...here's to hoping!! ;)

Fixer Upper Style: Get the Look

Hey friends! I hope you enjoyed the weekend (a long weekend for some of you!) Our weekend was sunshine galore, so we took a few walks which was glorious!

Chances are you have heard of Fixer Upper and I'm also betting, especially if you read my blog, you love Joanna's style! Today I'm showing you how to get the Fixer Upper look of a few rooms they've done. This living / dining space really caught my eye, and I'm usually not drawn to dark leather sofas. This space feels warm, inviting, cool and still bright, despite the darker furniture (thanks to white paint!)

THINGS TO NOTE:

1. Natural wood finish around the french doors calls attention to the doors and draws your eye outside. The warm wood tone helps make the room feel cozier.

2. By adding wood beams, they made the ceiling appear taller, but also feel more intimate. Chip & Jo always add architectural details that bring back character and texture to the home, while also keeping our eyes interested.

3. Light, neutral walls contrast against the darker furniture and still makes the space feel bright and open.

4. They mixed black and brown, which I really love in this space. To bring the black hue from the dining room over into the living room, they placed a black coffee table in the seating vignette. This helps disperse the color and make it feel cohesive.

5. Wide planked hardwood floors running through the entire room makes it feel more expansive.

6. As with most of their designs, a lot of the decor is actually just (fake) plants, flowers, branches, vases, trays, books, candles. Simple and sleek.

7. They have a few recessed can lights. Always a smart idea to have a few different types of lighting in each room. Recessed lighting is considered "general lighting", which fills more of the space as a whole. A dining chandelier is considered "task lighting" because you need it on in order to complete a task-- eating! And a table lamp, wall sconce or something like that could be considered more "ambient lighting" that sets a mood. It's always a great idea to put can lighting on a dimmer, so you have more control over how the room looks.

* Something fun to note: these dining chairs are replicas of the Windsor Chair, a chair made around the 18th century in England. It's a very iconic piece!

I also found this image on their site and thought I'd show you my favorite sources for botanical prints. This series of prints is great for over a mantel as shown, in an entry way, on a dining room wall, over a couch, down a hallway, etc. It's nice to bring some symmetry to a space by hanging them 2x3 like this, too.

Of course you can also get some pretty botanical prints from Magnolia Market here. I also love Ballard's selection.

I hope this was helpful to you! Let me know if you like this series and I can do it more often :) I am so excited to go back to the Magnolia Silos this May!!

Happy Tuesday
