The Short List 4

Hi everyone! Happy Monday. I hope you enjoyed your weekend celebrating your fathers. I shared a little about my dad here, if you want to take a look!

The Short List series is back! I'll be giving you the scoop on what we've been up to lately-- what we're reading, watching, eating, etc. If you want another topic added to the mix, just let me know and I'll add it next month.

What We're Watching: Well now that our favorite shows are taking a break until fall (Designated Survivor and This Is Us) we have been watching lots of The Office on Netflix. Neither of us have seen it all the way through, though we've both seen most of it, so it's been a good time. We just finished FRIENDS also. I've seen that a couple times through all the way, but my husband has never seen it! (I couldn't believe it, so we fixed that!) My husband is really into House of Cards and I, rather shamefully, watch The Bachelorette. Not super into this season yet.

One show I really like is Married at First Sight. Sort of embarrassed to admit this, but it's so interesting! Essentially it's arranged marriages by experts and the show follows the 3 couples they paired together in marriage to see how the grow to love each other (or not). This is the fourth or fifth season and it's crazy that some of the couples actually stay together and are so happily married now! Does anyone watch this?! Please tell me I'm not the only one ;)

What I'm Loving:

1. I've been LOVING the peaches from Trader Joe's recently. SO GOOD! Might need to make my peach cobbler soon.

2. Summer! I think Wednesday is the first official day of summer, but it's been warm temps here for a few weeks now. I feel so alive in the summer! ;)

3. We had a great Bloom Workshop last week in Traverse City, Michigan. Our mini workshops are always some of our favorites, so we might just be adding another workshop to the fall!

4. These flat sandals:

6. I'm also obsessed with tassels right now. This white tank is affordable and you know how I love a cute white top! It goes with everything :) Pair it with my favorite chambray shorts and outfit complete!

What We're Eating: We've been doing Blue Apron meals once a month for the past 3-4 months and it's been really fun. Three meals will be on my door step this Tuesday and I can't wait! It means I also don't have to do a lot of grocery shopping...win!! If you want a referral to get your first order of 3 meals FREE, comment with your email address! I'll send you a referral asap.

What's on My Desk: This last week I was working on some decor for a client's playroom. We're starting with pillows. I came up with 3 options for her. Which is your favorite?!

SHOP: neutral textured / navy pillow / floral / coral herringbone rug  (comes in a bunch of colors!)

SHOPneutral textured / embroidered blue / home pillow

Looking Forward to: My husband turns 28 on Thursday...holy cow!! I'm looking forward to celebrating him with some friends!

What We're Reading: I am a very slow reader naturally, but I haven't been spending a lot of time reading recently. That's what happens in the summer I guess! I'm still trying to finish the last few chapters of A Broken Way. I really want a fun chick flick novel to read at the beach this summer though, so I'll take suggestions!

That's my short list! Answer some of these in the comments so I can get to know you better :)

Thanks for reading!

The Short List #3

Hi everyone! Thanks for bearing with me while I was in California teaching a workshop. I'm back in the office now and will have lots of new posts coming soon! Today it's time for The Short List-- a bunch of random thoughts and what we're up to lately. Enjoy!
***

What I'm Loving: I was home in California for about 10 days, which means I got to spend time with my parents and our pup, Hope. I just ADORE her! I mean, look at that face:

- I'm also loving that I can finally buy a few pieces for my spring and summer wardrobe since Lent is over ;) These things are on their way to me!

- Our first Bloom Workshop of the year was at our wedding venue in Carmel, CA. It was such an amazing two days! Here are some iPhone sneak peeks:
box + bow gift baskets

the most adorable "create beauty" mugs by Ella Jay Design // flower wall by FloresdePapel

kinsley james bridal gown

- It's warming up in Michigan! PTL! Now that I'm back from my trip to CA for The Bloom Workshop, I'm gearing up to spring clean our entire apartment-- top to bottom. This makes me way too happy ;)

What We're Eating: Our second round of Blue Apron meals arrive next week! We loved last month's adventures in cooking together so much, that we signed up for this month as well. The meals look so delicious, so we can't wait! Bonus that I don't have to grocery shop next week ;)

What's on My Desk: This month I've been working on a bedroom design, getting rugs and accessories for a new build home, helping a repeat client with the design of their new apartment, and a few one hour consults. Hopefully I'll be showing you a few of these projects soon!

Looking Forward to: My husband and I are going to Dallas in a few weeks for his work conference, which also happens to coincide with my sister in law's college graduation from Baylor, which is in Waco. That means I'll be going to Magnolia Market for the second time! I'm SO excited!! Our whole family will finally be together, which is a rare, but always special occasion for us. I'll also be meeting a few blog friends, so that will be really fun as well.

What I'm Reading: I'm going to be starting Ann Voskamp's new book called The Broken Way. Any other suggestions?!

Your turn to answer some of the prompts!

The Short List 2

Welcome to February's edition of The Short List! This is where I give you the scoop on what we've been up to lately-- what we're reading, watching, eating, etc.

What We're Watching: Still loving This is Us! We are also on the last season of FRIENDS on Netflix. This is my second or third time watching it all the way through and it's honestly still just as funny as the first time through! We're really excited for Designated Survivor to come back in March as well as The Catch. Have you seen either?

What I'm Loving: February was a fun month! From a little getaway to California to visit with my fam, to our first married Valentine's Day and LOTS of sunny warm days here in Michigan, it was a month to remember :) Here are a few other things I'm loving:

1. My client's home tour was featured on Rue Daily this month!

2. This is my all time favorite tea: Cream Caramel Decaf. I order it from the Tea Haus in Ann Arbor, MI. It's SO good! A black tea, but decaf! Perfect for me. Try it, you won't regret it!

3. Goldendoodles. I've mentioned this on Instagram recently, but if you didn't see...we really want one. I guess you could say I've got puppy fever ;) SOMEONE STOP ME.

4. All the gorgeous Oscar dresses! Did you watch? Here are some of my favorite

And my favorite for the night, the gorgeous Nicole Kidman:

Which was your favorite?!

What We're Eating: THANK YOU for the suggestions from my last post! I'm making a pulled pork recipe that a reader suggested last month this week and I'm so excited. So is my hubby, because that's one of his favorite meals.

This month I have a few recipes to share with you! I made the Pioneer Woman's Cranberry Pork Tenderloin recipe here a few nights ago and it was delicious! I watched my mom make it at home a few weeks ago and since it was so easy, I knew I could do it with no problems :) Just a note, the pictures are nice in her blog post, but she doesn't list the ingredients all in one place, so I found this blog post that does here. It's a little easier to follow!

I also made her dinner rolls recipe at the bottom of the page, which were INSANELY good. I substituted the dinner rolls with store-bought biscuits (Trader Joes brand) and we both agreed they were amazing.

What's on My Desk: This month I've had a few new clients, which has been fun! I'm currently working on one of my long-time clients' basement renovation (turning out beautifully!), a few e-designs (including a really fun contemporary bedroom design for a sweet young lady, who is about to head to college), a couple of 1 hour design consults, and finishing up another long-time clients' new build.

Looking Forward To: The workshop I teach is heading to Northern California in April and it's being held at our gorgeous wedding venue, Holman Ranch!! I'm so excited to be back. If you want to learn more about blogging, social media, photography, design, styling, floral arranging, calligraphy and styled shoots, there are a few seats left still! Get all the details here.

What I'm Reading: I'm really excited to tell you about this one. I'm currently reading one of my favorite authors' newest books, Nothing to Prove by Jennie Allen. I'm loving the simple, yet profound truths I've been finding in her words. That lie that we have to be enough and do enough and maintain the perfect image to everyone around us (and ourselves!) is such a weight on our shoulders. We can't be enough on our own, but through Jesus we are. What a relief and a blessing!

Okay, your turn! Answer a few of the questions + give me recipes and books you love!
Have a wonderful week!

The Short List 1

Hi friends! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. We had so much fun on date night this Saturday night at a Murder Mystery dinner. I can't wait to tell you all about it soon! Today is my first post in a new monthly series called The Short List. Here I'll be giving you the scoop on what we've been up to lately-- what we're reading, watching, eating, etc. Hope you like it!! If you want another topic covered in The Short List, just comment with it and I'll add it in next month!

What We're Watching: Hands-down our favorite show on right now is This Is Us. We just started it this month and watched the first 10 episodes in about 10 days. It is SO GOOD. And also, I cry nearly every episode...so touching! We also can't wait for Designated Survivor to come back in March.

As far as shows I watch by myself: Nashville and Project Runway (this season it's with little kids and I'm always blown away!!) Of course I also watch Fixer Upper :)

What I'm Loving: A few things!

1. Our ticket sales for The Bloom Workshop open TODAY! We're coming to Northern California, Traverse City, Chicago, Grand Rapids and Dallas! It's a really fun lineup and I'd love to meet you at an event or two.

2. TULIPS! I'm so glad that these blooms are available year round. Especially loving that they're $4.99 at Trader Joes!

3. I finally got around to buying gallery wall frames for our wedding photos! I can't wait for them to arrive and get them up on the wall. Thankfully we had gift cards to Pottery Barn, so we got these beautiful frames in the gilt color!

What I'm Wearing: It's cold here. Have I mentioned that lately?! ;) So I spend most of my days in leggings with sweaters. And honestly, sometimes pajamas. #noshame

I wear this sweater at least twice a week (it helps that I have both black and gray ;))

What We're Eating: I'm really trying to be a better cook for my husband! He's so nice, even when I burn chicken, he eats it. I shop mostly at Trader Joes because of the price point, the small scale of the store (I hate those big super stores!) and because they have really tasty food. If we're in a hurry, I love Trader Joes Orange Chicken. I make it with rice and broccoli. I also made chili and cornbread this month, along with cranberry chicken and rice recipe. One of my favorite meals to make and take to friends houses is flank steak tacos in the crockpot. So I made that for a friend who just had a baby! On New Years Day I made my mom's famous egg casserole...it was delicious.

If I'm being honest, cooking isn't my favorite; probably because I haven't mastered it and that bothers me! PLEASE share crockpot recipes with me!! Those are so easy and delicious.

What's on My Desk: This week I'm working on a baby boy nursery design + a modern/industrial home office. Here's a peek of that. We're currently deciding between a few comfy chair options for the corner of the room.

SOURCESL desk / leather swivel chair / small desk / chair / rug / everly / irving / tyler

Looking Forward to: I'm going home to California in a few weeks to dog sit our family golden retriever, Hope, while my parent's take off for a Hawaiian vacay. I can't wait to see her and be in some warmer weather!

What We're Reading: My husband and I have started reading at night together a few times a week and it's been really sweet. It's fun to be together doing the same thing, but reading different books and then sharing thoughts.

He's reading Speaking of Jesus and loves it. I'm reading How We Love and it's so interesting. It's one of the best marriage books I've read, because it gives you really great insight into why you might be how you are in your marriage, due to your childhood experiences.

That is what's on my short list this month. Comment answering some of the prompts below! I'd love to hear what you're up to as well :)

Happy Monday!
xoxo
